Charles De Langhe is a French engraver, specialized in copperplate engraving. He has studied jewellery and engraving in Paris. Charles De Langhe combines a deep artistic sensibility with a solid know-how as a jeweller and engraver. He is also a book-lover, which logically led him to engrave bookplates. He either entirely designs them, or follows his clients' ideas, sketches or drawings. Here are a few examples of engravings, and a link if you are thinking of having your own bookplate made.

There is no typical price for a bookplate. It widely depends on your choices and can vary from around 75 euros, for a very simple engraving, up to 500 euros for complex compositions. You can send us sketches of your future bookplate or describe it to us if you wish to receive an estimate.

Copperplates are often steel-faced onces engraved, which makes it possible to print without the engraving wearing out. You can tell a copperplate is steel-faced because it is darker.

Engraving tools: burins, dry points, burnishers and many other tools are often made by the engravers themselves, out of steel bars. These tools are then constanly sharpened.
